Why Have An Assessment?

  1. A report with recommendations can form the basis of a teaching programme; teachers would then be able to work more effectively with you or your child.
  2. If you think that your child needs extra time or a scribe etc for exams, a formal report will help you make a case to the school/centre/institution.
  3. A report can build up confidence in people; they then gain an understanding of their strengths as well as their weaknesses. They are able to work more effectively.
  4. If you wish to apply for the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) you will need to produce a recent assessment by a certified practitioner.  Such an allowance is aimed at helping disabled people to study on an equal basis with other students.
  5. If you are in the workplace then a diagnosis might help you to gain support.
